Smap3D-Standard Parts: CAD for Solid Edge

CAD Partner and UGS work extremely closely together to deliver standard parts. Since Solid Edge Version 15, UGS have been selling the Smap3D standard parts catalogs directly.

The standard parts management system in Solid Edge is developed by CAD Partner as a reduced version of Smap3D PartFinder.

Our standard parts are developed exclusively for and using Solid Edge. Smap3D standard parts and Solid Edge together form a unit whose level of integration is unsurpassed.

Smap3D : CAD for Plant Design

Smap3D Piping turns Solid Edge and Solid Edge XpresRoute into an extremely powerful 3D piping solution. The innovative software solution

Smap3DPiping is completely integrated in Solid Edge.

Smap3D Piping is the tool to use for creating quick and simple plans as well as when making changes to complex 3D piping systems.

The most important unique feature of Smap3D Piping is the ability to use pipe classes to create the piping systems. In the pipe classes the affiliation of components (fittings, flanges etc) is defined in line with company specifications for medium, diameter and pressure.

This greatly reduces the engineer's workload. In Solid Edge XpresRoute the definition and creation of the piping paths is carried out. Smap3D Piping then generates automatically the piping system according to the pipe class, diameter and pressure selected.

Smap3D Piping places bends, tees, flanges, seals and segments and generates the pipes required. This saves time and reduces the number of errors. It is also very easy to add other components (such as fittings) to an existing pipe system. Smap3D Piping recognises which pieces of piping between the components are missing or not required and separates or corrects them.

When used together with the Smap3D plant design component standard parts library and Smap3D PartFinder for managing standard parts, the user has an extremely powerful software package for 3D piping planning.

 

3D-Layout Planning: CAD for Factory Layouts

Smap3D Layout Planning is a specialized 3D application to accelerate the process of planning machine and factory layouts. The application focuses on saving as much information as possible directly in the software, allowing for a smooth transition in the case of employee changes etc.
With Smap3D Layout Planning it is possible for an employee with little knowledge of CAD to create a layout consisting of high quality 3D models that can be used for many different purposes:
- Virtual 3D models of complex layouts are a huge benefit to sales personnel. They enable potential customers to see a detailed 3D model of the proposed layout before any contracts need to be signed. Photo-realistic images or animation can be created relatively easily, providing a big advantage over the competition.

CAD-Plotting with Smap3D

Smap3D Plotting is the optimal extension for Smap3D EDM/PDM. Smap3D Plotting consists of two software packages: administrator and client. The administrator is installed on a central computer which has Solid Edge. The client is free of charge and can be installed on any number of computers. The user selects the Solid Edge drafts required and sends the job at the click of a button to the Plotting administrator, which distributes the drawings to the printer or plotter according to the predetermined timetable.

The assignation of printer and sheet size is defined in administrator. No specialist knowledge is required for plotting. Members of the purchasing or manufacturing departments no longer require and engineer's help if they need a plot of a drawing. They can simply do it themselves without a Solid Edge license and without Solid Edge know-how.

Together with Smap3D PDM an even more powerful project plot is available. Using Smap3D PartFinder, the project assembly required is selected. In the database, all the drafts linked to this assembly, sub-assemblies and parts, are found. The searching and plotting of all the drafts belonging to this assembly is done automatically: again, a huge saving in time!
